Active Living Partners Appears at National Conferences

Active Living Partners played a big role at the recent Athletic Business trade show, where four health and fitness organizations conducted their annual conferences. Active Living staff presented seminars at the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA) and Florida Health Club Association (FHCA) conferences, exhibited at the trade show, and conducted an Active Living Every Day facilitator workshop.

In fact, Active Living has already been asked to participate in next year’s International Council on Active Aging conference in December 2005. Julie McNeney, COO, writes, “Thank you for being part of our team. The feedback I heard about your session was amazing! We hope that you will be part of our team next year.”

The following are highlights of the week:

  • Michele Guerra, Active Living Partners director, spoke to a group of 25 professionals on Thursday at the FHCA conference. On Friday, she presented to a packed room of more than 80 people at the ICAA conference. Both seminars centered on ways to help sedentary adults become and stay active. Attendees explored the unique needs related to physical activity of inactive adults, and they learned how to tailor their programming to attract and retain sedentary adults.
  • Guerra conducted an Active Living Every Day facilitator training workshop on Saturday, the first to be held at an ICAA conference. The facilitators included professionals in the fields of assisted and independent living, wellness coaching, and individual consulting from across the nation. Diane Randall, a facilitator from the Chicago area, wrote, “I really enjoyed the workshop on Saturday. You were a great teacher! I am excited about getting started with my classes. Thanks for the inspiration and information.”

The ICAA, Athletic Business magazine, Medical Fitness Association (MFA), and the FHCA held their respective conferences surrounding one trade show at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, November 11 to 13, 2004. This is the first year in which all four groups have met concurrently.

The conferences and trade show brought together professionals from a range of disciplines. Featured speakers from health and fitness fields, organizations that serve older adults, medical fitness facilities, business management, and motivational speakers, including keynote speaker Cal Ripken Jr., offered attendees an exclusive venue for education, networking, and discovering the latest equipment and programs.
