Active Living Partners Director to Speak at National Wellness Conference
Michele Guerra, MS, CHES, and director of Active Living Partners, is scheduled to speak at the National Wellness Conference July 9 to 14, 2005. This is the fourth year Guerra has been asked to share her expertise in reaching out to inactive adults at the conference. She offers conference attendees practical, proven techniques they can use to craft effective messages to attract sedentary people and create solutions to barriers of healthy living.
The Great IDEA: A Problem-Solving Technique
Expanding on a behavior change strategy used in Active Living Partners programs, Ms. Guerra presents “The Great IDEA: A problem-solving technique to help people overcome their barriers to healthy habits” on July 11 in a 10 a.m. breakout session. She will address barriers to and benefits of changing health behaviors, and she will lead the group through a brainstorming activity. Role-playing and participating in a problem-solving demonstration will give people practice in using the IDEA strategy with their own clients or patients.
Selling Physical Activity to Inactive Adults
Health promotion and wellness professionals must use a different approach to reach inactive adults. In this breakout session at 3:45 p.m. on July 13, Ms. Guerra teaches practical techniques to use in creating marketing materials and the recruiting process.
