American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging
"Quality Through Community," the annual meeting and expo for the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA), meets in San Antonio, Texas, November 7 to 10. Michele Guerra, Active Living Partners director, presents a preconference workshop with Phil Page and Jan Montague on November 6 to share successful approaches to planning and designing wellness centers. Guerra will explain the effects of physical inactivity on mental and physical health and describe evidence-based, cost-effective programs that help older adults overcome barriers to participation in physical activity.
Also plan to visit the Active Living Partners booth, number 1072, in the Wellness Pavilion of the AAHSA expo. AAHSA’s conference brings together more than 7,000 providers, researchers, educators, and business partners from across the country to experience more than 600 exhibits and numerous educational programs. International Council on Active Aging (ICAA), Medical Fitness Association (MFA), and Athletic Business
The ICAA, MFA, and Athletic Business joint conferences and expo will be held November 30 to December 3 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. Active Living Partners will be on hand to conduct a training workshop, exhibit their products and resources, and present informative educational sessions.

- Selling Physical Activity to an Inactive World , Michele Guerra. Wednesday, November 30, 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Discover techniques you can use in marketing and recruiting sedentary people to your programs.
- The Great IDEA: Problem Solving Through Barriers to Healthy Living , Michele Guerra. Thursday, December 1, 8:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Learn to appreciate why people have difficulty overcoming their barriers to healthy living. Practice using a problem-solving strategy to help people overcome those barriers.
- Improving Total Diet Quality, Improving Quality of Life , Rachel Coolman. Friday, December 2, 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Discuss the benefits of focusing on total diet quality, and learn skills that help people adopt this approach to healthy eating.
Active Living Partners offers you the chance to train for both our behavior change programs, Active Living Every Day and Healthy Eating Every Day, while you’re at the conference. Our programs are based on research, provide realistic road maps for changing behaviors, and are cost effective. You don’t want to miss this training!
