ALP Providers to Present at Upcoming Conferences
Active Living Partners staff and providers will exhibit and speak at several conferences over the next few months. CDC’s Healthy Aging Research Network Symposium
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention fund the Healthy Aging Research Network, composed of 9 universities and 33 prevention research centers. The network hosts a conference in the Seattle area February 14 to 15, 2007. “Effective Community-Based Physical Activity Programs for Older Adults: From Research to Practice” presents the best health promotion practices for older adults. Stacy Wegley, ACSM-certified health/fitness instructor of the Council on Aging of Southwest Ohio (who offers Active Living Every Day programs), will present with Sara Wilcox and Doris Estremera-Rohleder on Thursday, February 15, at 12:45 p.m. Their topic—Active for Life: Developing Partners and Strategies to Assure Maintenance and Sustainability—gives an overview of Active Living Every Day and Active Choices, the two programs used in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation–funded Active for Life initiative. Stacy will have information folders about Active Living Partners programs available for those who want more details.

NCOA and ASA Joint Conference
The National Council on Aging and the American Society on Aging hold their national conference this year March 7 to 10, 2007, in Chicago. Three presenters associated with Active Living Partners will speak.

National Association of Health and Fitness Conference
The NAHF annual conference meets April 26 to 28, 2007 in Buena Park, California. “States Unite for a Healthy & Fit America” offers an opportunity to view exhibits, hear dynamic speakers, and learn more about NAHF as well as the California Governor’s Council and the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.
Rosa Aguirre of the OASIS Institute in Los Angeles will present on Thursday, April 26, at 11:10 a.m. Rosa’s topic centers on their Health and Human Services Award-winning Active Start program, which includes Active Living Every Day.
